This was the first time I had the opportunity to meet them, as we had taken care of the details by phone and e-mail leading up to their special day. They are wonderful, caring, and just so relaxed! Their personalities showed in the details of their day, they had a grand total of 11 guests, and were very relaxed about their whole day! Enjoy the preview!

It was a little cold (6 degrees) and very windy, but nobody complained, we had sunshine! There's something about small town churches that's just amazing, the light, the intimacy, it's like they have a personality of their own. St. Michael's Catholic church in Douglas is no exception, being just around the corner from Melissa's family farm. Their wedding was such a pleasure to photograph as both families are very relaxed, kind and generous. Enjoy the preview:

Almost as if to spite my easy pregnancy, he took almost 36 hours to arrive and although difficult, it was an incredible experience. Since his arrival just over a month ago, we've had the usual ups and downs (mostly in the wee hours of the morning!) but he has taught us so much in so little time. We've learned that you can exist on very little sleep, getting ready and out the door takes three times longer than it used to, and that he creates far more laundry than any adult I've met! However, I've also learned that love at first sight truly does exist, and that the enormity of love you have for a child is almost indescribable. In planning for Tavis's newborn photos, we wanted to come up with ideas as unique as he is. As some of you may already know, Brian is a volunteer firefighter in Almonte where we live, and we wanted to reflect the pride we have for both. Grandma Hargreaves also spent many hours creating cute outfits for him before he arrived, and those were important for us to include. I really hope you enjoy the photos of our precious little man as much as we do, and we'll try not to flood the blog when we have another shoot!

In getting to know them, we quickly learnt that they are two truly genuine and honest people. Both were brought up with traditional Chinese values, and their wedding showed that. Family was number one for this wedding, and was very apparent throughout the day. Jingjing and Nick chose to see each other before their wedding, which allowed us to capture their formal images earlier in the day, giving time for a break after their traditional tea ceremony to relax before their reception! One of my favorite parts of a traditional Chinese wedding reception is “cheersing”. The couple, along with their parents go to each table to thank them for coming and “cheers” them! Some members of their families couldn’t make it for the wedding, however they were still part of the celebration via FaceTime on an iPad!
