You may remember Kelly & Derek from their engagement session a few months ago at Hogs Back Falls. We had a great time photographing their engagement session, as they are so relaxed, genuine and just plain ol’ nice! After photographing their wedding at Blessed Sacrament church in the Glebe, and their reception at the NAC it was apparent that their families were just as witty, relaxed, and nice as they are!
Ivanette and I hope you enjoy the preview:
It’s been a busy week! Ivanette and I photographed Kelly & Kevin’s wedding engagement session downtown in and around the market and National Art Gallery a week ago. We met with them on a nice sunny Sunday afternoon, and were pleasantly surprised to see they brought their dog Luigi! Both Kelly and Kevin are very relaxed and we had a great time!

Ivanette and I had met Jason a few years back at a local meetup, organized through the photo sharing website flickr. Jason, and his then girlfriend Jen were just super cool people and we passed war stories and tips back and forth over a few beers. They both had great ideas and really like to relax! When I heard through twitter that Jason had popped the question to Jennifer, I was anxious to find out who they would choose as their wedding photographer. Jason being a semi-pro photographer, and having photographed weddings himself, I knew he would be picky! Well, luckily one day last year, I received an e-mail from Jason asking if I still had June 25th open.
It was a great honor and privileged to photograph their wedding. When looking at the forecast, which called for thunderstorms, I started to worry. A little rain would be cool for this couple, but a thunderstorm? Luckily while driving into town, the clouds started to part, and even though there was a little drizzle during their outdoor ceremony, it was still amazing! I love how the dark clouds frame them in some of these images.

We are so excited to be able to share the bridal portraits from this past Saturday’s gorgeous wedding of Karina and Roberto! There are simply so many images we love from this day, we’re going to have to bring you a few blog posts to cover them all…
Hair: Andre’s Hair Designs
Makeup: Dania Khanafer
Dress: Pronovias of Barcelona, Spain
Headpiece: Chapeau de Madeleine of Ottawa
Hotel: Fairmont Chateau Laurier
Bouquet: Michelle VandenBosch
Karina was born and raised in Venezuela, and her father travelled to Ottawa for the wedding. Her mother’s earrings, a sentimental keepsake, were shipped here for her to wear on her wedding day, and I have never seen a more loving gesture than her father making sure they looked perfect on his little girl…
Eduardo is such a lovely, stoic man…who has a really funny side despite the serious face!
The Chateau Laurier is an absolutely amazing hotel to photograph in, and the lobby has some of the most exquisite detail work…
I am so much in love with the old Hollywood feel of this image!!!
Sadly, many of Karina’s family and friends, including her beloved sister, were not granted travel visas to enter Canada for the wedding. She spent lots of time communicating with them throughout the day, making sure they felt connected with her. Technology never replaces loved ones though, and there were some very emotional moments for our beautiful bride during the day.
As you can see, Karina literally stopped traffic on busy Rideau Street!!
Despite it being close to noon, we took full advantage of the spectacular bright sun to create these images, the second of which is my absolute favorite of the day.
I am really happy to say that we count Karina and Roberto in our circle of friends now, as they are a truly wonderful couple…if you had just one moment to meet Karina you would want to hug her! I am so proud that we were able to capture their day, and part of me is really sad that it’s over…Su amistad es preciosa, a mi hermana…

We had a great boudoir session with Jenne at a downtown hotel last week and we just had to share (with her permission of course)! Check out a little peek into this gorgeous woman’s boudoir session:
