{Tracy & Phill} A wedding of family and friends, Almonte, Ontario

When Ivanette and I moved to Almonte 4 years ago, one of the first people we were introduced to was Phil. Since then, we have gotten to know Phill, and he’s always been there when we’ve needed a hand. We’ve learned that he is truly one of the kindest, gentlest, most generous men around, and he is a wonderfully dedicated father to boot. We were very happy when Tracy came to hold such a special place in Phill’s life, and one night in mid December when we were in the middle of renovating our new studio, Phil called us up, and was in need of some guidance in setting up his proposal to Tracy. Needless to say, we were both very excited and happy to help.

A few weeks later, we were discussing wedding plans. Tracy and Phill originally wanted May 28th, however we were already booked. It had been decided that we were to photograph their wedding, so they moved their date up to this past Saturday. Yes, May the 14th, the Saturday that sets a rainfall record for the Ottawa Valley! Their wedding was to be held at the amazing Stoneridge Gardens & Nursery in their outdoor gardens, but given the weather, Tracy got in contact with Rental Village, who came through very quickly and got a tent set up so that all of their 265 guests could get out of the rain.

This wedding was truly about friends and family. The choir was made up of co-workers of Tracy’s mother, and the bridal party walked up the aisle to “What a Wonderful World” sung by her students, who practiced for two months in preparation! Tracy and her mom walked up the aisle to “Come away with me” sung by the choir. Tracy’s cake was made by the culinary program at the Secondary School where she works; students signed up to stay after school and bake an amazing cake, enough for all 260 plus guests! John J, a longtime family friend gave grace, before a sumptuous buffet dinner catered by JR’s Restaurant (Ivy’s FAVE!). Tracy and Phill’s has to be one of the most genuine weddings we’ve had the pleasure of photographing, complete with their heartwarming thank you, which noted that the heavy rainfall was a good reminder that their day was about their marriage, and not just the wedding.

{Phill & Tracy} A wintery country engagement

Ivanette and I have known Phill almost since the time we moved to Almonte 4 years ago. Phil is the give you his shirt off his back kind of guy who is always around when you need a hand. We were happy for him when we heard about Tracy, and even happier when he called Ivanette one evening asking for a little advice on when the best time to propose would be! We had the opportunity to take their engagement photos at Tracy’s family farm, as it combines her love of the family land, and Phill’s love of 4 wheelers and tractors. We were lucky enough to schedule their session the morning after last week’s snow storm, giving Phil and Tracy a bit of powder to play around in with the 4 wheeler.

Hope you enjoy the images as much as I did taking them:

{Christine & Benton} A winter engagement near Barry’s Bay

We first met Christine at Arnprior’s first wedding show a few months ago. We immediately seemed to get along very well and after the 3 of us chatted for over half an hour, she went home to discuss things with Benton. A few days later we received a very nice e-mail requesting to meet up. Christine and Benton made the drive to Almonte from Barry’s Bay a few days later and we set a date to capture their engagement photos. We had a great time despite the foot of snow that was on the ground at the park near Combermere (just outside of Barry’s Bay). As we were wrapping up the session, Benton mentioned that as a child, he had helped his grandfather build a monument a few kilometers away to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the 1944 Warsaw uprising in Poland. It is designed to commemorate a church that was destroyed during the Nazi invasion. We thought it would be a fitting tribute to their culture, family, and heritage, and the perfect way to end their engagement session.

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!
