{Chantal & Simon} A firefighter’s wedding at Lago Bar Grill View

I’ve known Simon for a while, we were in the same class at Algonquin college for fire fighting, and have kept in touch ever since. Simon has been a volunteer in Dunrobin (Ottawa) for a couple years longer than I’ve been on with Mississippi Mills. When Simon sent me a note to say he was engaged, and wanted Ivanette and I to photograph their wedding, it was an honour, and privilege. Chantal is one patient woman, and I learnt that after the first time we got together to chat about their wedding, and conversation strayed into chatting about the two departments. I photographed their engagement session at the Dunrobin Hall to include the trucks. Well, turns out Ottawa Fire had a call right beside Lago while we were doing their portraits, so with the Captain’s permission, we took a couple photos while they dealt with a minor call. Simon and I had already planned out having him wear one of his department shirts under his tux. It was a great wedding, and an even better party!

{Shannon & Bob} A country wedding at Kemptville College

I first met Shannon and Bobby at the Ottawa Wedding Show, and they later came to the studio to chat about their wedding. They are very down to earth, easy going, and care the world about each other. Their wedding was one of the most relaxed days we’ve ever had!

Enjoy the photos!

{Chelsea & Scott} A Celtic wedding at Tudor Hall

I first met Chelsea and her amazing family at her brother’s wedding back in the fall of 2009. Ivy didn’t have the chance to join me as she was in Vancouver preparing to work at the Olympics the following year. I can tell you however that she was jealous of not being able to photograph all of the amazing details! When Chelsea messaged me on facebook to let us know that Scott had proposed, and she wanted us to photograph their wedding, we were both excited! Turns out Scott’s family is just as nice and caring! From the details that Chelsea chose, the Champagne Highland Dancers acting as ushers, and then having three performances during the reception, and the absolute abundance of emotion throughout the day. The most memorable moment to me was Chelsea’s reaction as Scott stepped out to reveal he was wearing a kilt. Chelsea’s Scottish roots are important to herself and her family. Scott’s effort into bringing in a kilt bearing her family’s Tartan was a sign of just how much he loves Chelsea!

{Lisa, Randy & Abigail} The 1 year “anniversary” party

Ivanette and I had the pleasure of photographing a unique wedding celebration. Lisa and Randy had a small wedding at city hall last July, and planned a “simple” reception for their first anniversary. Plans evolved and it was quite the party in Manotick! We were honoured to be part of their celebration, which revolved around family. Randy involved his 3 other daughters, and Abigail took a seat right in the center of the head table. Even though she was only 11 months old, you could tell she already has her father’s sense of humour, and laughed at every punchline during the speeches!

{Stephanie & Jason} A destination wedding in Ottawa!

Last weekend it was a pleasure to photograph Stephanie & Jason’s wedding. When most of us hear destination wedding, we think of the sunny south. Stephanie & Jason actually live in Barbados, and since her parents and family members live in Ottawa, they decided to hold their wedding here! After a very long distance phone call, I got to know the couple, and immediately knew their wedding was going to be one of the most relaxed weddings I’ve ever photographed, which made the 5am wake up call for their 9 am ceremony completely worth while! Enjoy the photos!

{Roberta & Jeff} A rainy engagement session

We scheduled a nice, relaxing engagement session with Roberta & Jeff in preparation of their wedding next May. There was rain in the forecast, but only 30% chance of showers starting at 10pm, no need to reschedule. Well, turns out the weather forecast wasn’t 100% accurate and we got caught in a downpour! Roberta & Jeff were amazing however and we made the best of it! If it rains during the engagement session, does that mean it won’t rain on their wedding day?

{Alanna & Martin} SURPRISE! It’s your wedding day!

Back in November I received an e-mail from a guy by the name of Martin. He’s planning a wedding for June 2012, it’s going to be a backyard wedding, oh, and the bride doesn’t know! Turns out Alanna is one busy gal, and didn’t have much time to plan their wedding, so Martin decided to tell her that they’d have a small affair in September.

Well, somehow, without her knowing, he pulled off having her pick out a dress, shoes, etc. Martin, along with Cherise of Charmed Weddings and some great friends who managed to work with Alanna, pulled off the wedding without Alanna knowing! Her confused look as she approached the gate to the backyard quickly changed to shock as it became apparent that today was in fact her wedding day! Martin had planned everything, while Alanna was whisked away to have hair and makeup done, and get her dress on their close friends enjoyed cocktails by the pool!

The one thing Martin couldn’t plan, the weather, taunted us! The sun broke through the clouds only twice. Once when Alanna & Martin arrived, and then for a second time during their ceremony.
