{Rachel & Eric} An intimate “elopement”
Photos by Brian
Blog post by Ivanette
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Rachel when I started working at a new job in January, and getting to know her has been one of the highlights of my time there so far. Over time, we got to talking about our lives outside the office, and she learned that Brian is a photographer, and I learned that she was set to marry the love of her life, Eric, this fall. The rest, they say, is history!
When you see Rachel and Eric together, it’s truly captivating…they laugh together constantly, and when they look at one another, are almost consumed by the other. The energy they have together is wonderous and infectious, and you really can’t help but be happy in their presence.
Their families are both in my beloved home province of Nova Scotia, but they decided they wanted a very simple, City Hall ceremony this past week with a few close friends. Rachel looked gorgeous, Eric looked handsome, and we hope you enjoy a glimpse into their special day.

{Karen & Agostino} The Engagement
Ivanette worked with Karen a few years ago at her first job after moving to Ottawa for University. Over the years they had lost contact, but once Karen saw Ivanette at our booth in the Ottawa Wedding show, it was quite the reunion! Karen and Agostino are an amazing couple, full of energy and laughter! We’re looking forward to photographing their wedding this November!

{Kristen & Jason} Get Married at the Mayfair Theater, reception at the Glebe Community Center
Ivanette and I had the pleasure of meeting with Kristen & Jason last September and chatted about their very unique wedding. If you’re a regular follower of the blog, you’ll know that we like to keep things interesting by photographing unique, yet personalized weddings. It’s not always about who can get the most lavish venue, the most expensive shoes, or a couture gown. The best weddings are full of emotion, fun, and personal touches. Kristen and Jason decided early on to go for a Carnival theme for their wedding. The ceremony was held at the historic Mayfair Theater in the Glebe, with a reception at the Glebe Community Center. For their formal photos we decided that one of Ottawa’s legal graffiti walls would fit perfectly.
We thoroughly enjoyed Kristen & Jason’s wedding, which was indeed full of emotion and personal touches. From the historic popcorn and soda containers provided to guests as they watched the ceremony, the popcorn bowls with hydrangeas, the cotton candy machine as part of dessert table. Everything came together perfectly. Ivanette’s favorite detail was Kristen’s bouquet, which was put together using a collection of antique broaches that the wedding party teamed up to find and assemble!
A big thanks also goes out to Liz Bradley, who covered the groom’s prep, assisted with the ceremony and shot all the great details at the reception. Liz could also be seen dancing away over at the photobooth having a blast!

{Rachel & Eric} Engagement session at Ottawa’s Arboretum
Ivanette had the pleasure of meeting with Rachel when she started her new job last fall. It was a few months later when Rachel and Eric came in to discuss their wedding plans that I got to meet both of them. Rachel and Eric’s relationship first started when they would meet each other for lunch under a large willow tree at their University. The Arboretum with it’s large willows seemed like the perfect fit for their engagement photos. You can’t help but have a good time with these two! We just love it when people are so madly in love! We are looking forward to covering their small, intimate wedding later this year.

{Jennifer & Matt} A fiery engagement session
When Jennifer & Matt came out to the studio to chat about their wedding photography, we spent some time getting to know them. When chatting about how they got to know each other, this older, floral pattern sofa came up. In part due to our creativity, and in part due to their excitement to do something different, we decided that doing some super hot, and fun photos involving a little Alcohol, a lighter, and the sofa would make for some amazing engagement photos. Luckily, we finished their engagement session just before the severe thunderstorm came through last Sunday!

{Jennifer & Jason} A unique wedding
Ivanette and I had met Jason a few years back at a local meetup, organized through the photo sharing website flickr. Jason, and his then girlfriend Jen were just super cool people and we passed war stories and tips back and forth over a few beers. They both had great ideas and really like to relax! When I heard through twitter that Jason had popped the question to Jennifer, I was anxious to find out who they would choose as their wedding photographer. Jason being a semi-pro photographer, and having photographed weddings himself, I knew he would be picky! Well, luckily one day last year, I received an e-mail from Jason asking if I still had June 25th open.
It was a great honor and privileged to photograph their wedding. When looking at the forecast, which called for thunderstorms, I started to worry. A little rain would be cool for this couple, but a thunderstorm? Luckily while driving into town, the clouds started to part, and even though there was a little drizzle during their outdoor ceremony, it was still amazing! I love how the dark clouds frame them in some of these images.
