{Melissa & Garth} An “end of the world” wedding at Montebello!
As I’m sure you all know, Dec 21st 2012 was supposed to be the end of the world as some people interpreted the Mayan Calendar. Well, it was quite a fitting day to celebrate Melissa & Garth’s love for each other. Twenty three years ago, the two were high school sweethearts, so on the end of the world, or as it was more commonly referred to at their wedding, the beginning of a new age, Melissa & Garth were married in a wonderful ceremony at Chateau Montebello. Melissa filled the wedding full of unique touches, such as a circular aisle, so that they could walk past each and every guest, the custom hand made glass ornaments that formed a centrepiece, and then became favours for the guests. There was no seating plan, because as Melissa and Garth stated, “We are all family, so there’s no seating plan”. Guests were able to sit where they wished, mingle with who they wanted, and meet new friends at their leisure. The atmosphere was relaxed, well, until the dancing started!

{Christine & Evan} A wedding by the water in Carleton Place
Ivanette and I have known Christine & Evan for a few years now through family, and were thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph their wedding! With a big thanks to Sara at Prior Engagements for making the Canoe Club look the best it’s ever looked! It threatened to rain on their wedding day, but luckily the clouds cleared during their ceremony and we were able to make some gorgeous images outside!

{Rachel & Chris} A rainy day wedding
Some of our past clients might recognize Rachel, as she was my assistant last year while Ivanette was home with baby Tavis! Shortly after she started working with us, Chris proposed, so it was an honour when she asked us to photograph her wedding. The week leading up to the wedding, Rachel had her eye on the forecast, and I was hoping it would change. Well, the forecast did change, only the accumulation kept getting higher and higher. Well, it was a torrential downpour for most of the day! We completed their first look inside one of the barns at Stonefields, Ivanette was drenched from head to toe getting the barn set up and ready for the first look, and I can’t thank her enough for all she did! Rachel made the last minute decision to have her wedding outside in the drizzle, and with the help of Allan the ceremony was picture perfect! I also wanted to thank Steve and Stephanie of Stonefields who stepped in and made Rachel & Chris’ wedding amazing after their original venue double booked their date.

{Alanna & Martin} SURPRISE! It’s your wedding day!
Back in November I received an e-mail from a guy by the name of Martin. He’s planning a wedding for June 2012, it’s going to be a backyard wedding, oh, and the bride doesn’t know! Turns out Alanna is one busy gal, and didn’t have much time to plan their wedding, so Martin decided to tell her that they’d have a small affair in September.
Well, somehow, without her knowing, he pulled off having her pick out a dress, shoes, etc. Martin, along with Cherise of Charmed Weddings and some great friends who managed to work with Alanna, pulled off the wedding without Alanna knowing! Her confused look as she approached the gate to the backyard quickly changed to shock as it became apparent that today was in fact her wedding day! Martin had planned everything, while Alanna was whisked away to have hair and makeup done, and get her dress on their close friends enjoyed cocktails by the pool!
The one thing Martin couldn’t plan, the weather, taunted us! The sun broke through the clouds only twice. Once when Alanna & Martin arrived, and then for a second time during their ceremony.

{Trish & Jason} A day after session in Montego Bay, Jamaica
We had the pleasure of photographing Trish & Jason’s Wedding this January in Montego Bay, Jamaica and had a blast hanging out with them for the week. One of the benefits of bringing your photographer with you is a day after session. We spent the day Monday traveling around Montego Bay, Jamaica scouting locations with them, so that we could make the most of our time the day after their wedding.

{Trish & Jason} Destination Wedding in Montego Bay Jamaica
Well, what a January we’ve had! After taking some time off for Christmas to spend with Ivanette and baby Tavis, I have a conversation with Trish, as she tells me how disappointed she was with the quality of the photographer recommended by the resort, one thing leads to another, and the next day Trish, Jason and Kirsten were sitting in our studio chatting with us about what they were looking for in their wedding photography. They had a small wedding, but Trish knew that one thing she wanted was great photos. Next thing you know we’re flying off to Jamaica.
We had great weather at the RIU Montego Bay, Jamaica for their beach side wedding. Enjoy the preview, and stay tuned for their day after photos!
