{Kristin & Clyde} The Grey Gables Manor & Germania Club, Pembroke
Preparations: Grey Gables Manor
Gown: Paloma Blanca
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Makeup: Studio Leslie Anne
Reception Venue: Germania Club
Decor & Floral: Creative Edge Studio Inc.
Kristin and Clyde held Pembroke’s wedding of the year last weekend, and it was a treat to be involved and capture the memories of two wonderful families joining together. As you may remember, we shot their engagement session a while back in some of the coolest spots, all with significant sentimental value to them for the family history.
Kristin and her girls got ready at the gorgeous Grey Gables Manor, and Shirley was so very gracious to give us a little tour and history lesson when we arrived. The home was built in 1911 by a wealthy lumber baron, A. E. Dunlop, and converted to a Bed and Breakfast in 2004. It’s Library Room, a century old oak library with a large original fireplace and windows made the perfect backdrop for the preparations.

I arrived at Clyde’s house to find things just getting started, so it gave lots of time for some great shots! You may remember Louie the Dog from the their engagement photos, and as Clyde’s constant companion, it was only fitting that he have his portrait taken too!

The wedding car was The Blue Goose, an impeccable LeBaron belonging to Kristin’s dad, and that also served as the wedding car when her parents were married as well…

I’m so in love with those delightful pink Louboutin’s!!

The Germania Club in Pembroke was made gorgeous by Steve Hanniman and his team of Creative Edge Studio, and it looked amazing! Yes, those are floral balls and crystal drapes hanging from the ceiling!!

I am always brought down by wedding day tears, but the following set of images literally made me cry when we opened them after the wedding…

The Blue Goose was looking pretty cool in the dark, rainy night…

We had a wonderful time at Kristin and Clyde’s wedding, and both families were so exceptional to work with–thank you to all involved for allowing us to be a part of the wonderful celebration you hosted in honour of an amazing couple!

Karina was born and raised in Venezuela, and her father travelled to Ottawa for the wedding. Her mother’s earrings, a sentimental keepsake, were shipped here for her to wear on her wedding day, and I have never seen a more loving gesture than her father making sure they looked perfect on his little girl…

Eduardo is such a lovely, stoic man…who has a really funny side despite the serious face!

The Chateau Laurier is an absolutely amazing hotel to photograph in, and the lobby has some of the most exquisite detail work…

I am so much in love with the old Hollywood feel of this image!!!

Sadly, many of Karina’s family and friends, including her beloved sister, were not granted travel visas to enter Canada for the wedding. She spent lots of time communicating with them throughout the day, making sure they felt connected with her. Technology never replaces loved ones though, and there were some very emotional moments for our beautiful bride during the day.

As you can see, Karina literally stopped traffic on busy Rideau Street!!
Despite it being close to noon, we took full advantage of the spectacular bright sun to create these images, the second of which is my absolute favorite of the day.

I am really happy to say that we count Karina and Roberto in our circle of friends now, as they are a truly wonderful couple…if you had just one moment to meet Karina you would want to hug her! I am so proud that we were able to capture their day, and part of me is really sad that it’s over…Su amistad es preciosa, a mi hermana…

{Mary-Anne & David} Intimate wedding in Arnprior
When Brian and I met with Mary Anne and David for their initial consultation, we were delighted to hear they had planned an intimate, family oriented wedding in their new (old) home. This past Saturday, our expectations were pleasantly (and overwhelmingly) exceeded! Their beautifully decorated historic home was the perfect backdrop for their celebration–they have just recently purchased it so it was a great opportunity for many to congratulate them on all the new happenings in their lives.

Mary Anne carried her “something old” up the aisle–a bible and a locket that were gifts from her father to her mother on their wedding day many years ago. She also wore her “something blue”–an ever so small flower on her garter–fashioned from the last remaining piece of her mother’s wedding gown!!!

When we arrived at their home, Mary Anne was absolutely giddy and glowing, and she looked so adorable fussing over final prep with her veil streaming out behind her!
David was…well, somewhat quiet and seemingly bashful…until he saw his bride to be in her gown! Then, as you can see, a huge smile erupted and barely left his face that day.

Friends of the couple made their simple, beautiful cake as a gift and drove hours to hand deliver it! The stained glass Celtic knots made for a great spot for the cake, and are a spectacular piece of their home that pays homage to Mary Anne’s Irish background.

As many of you remember, it rained on Saturday…but luckily, it held off until the ceremony was over…

Mary Anne has the most amazing collection of antique teapots, all of which were filled with gorgeous fresh flowers and sprinkled throughout the entire house…

These cupcakes (including a chocolate peanut butter cup one!) were made by The Sweet and Sassy Company from Arnprior and were so delicious! Did I mention the chocolate peanut butter cup one?

This wedding had so many of my favorite things: good food, good friends, lots of boistrous family…and the belief that old things (and houses) are truly the best, made more important by memories and love. But mostly, my favorite part of this beautiful wedding is this: good things really do come to those who wait…with many thanks at having us be a part of your amazing day, and wishing you all the best for a happy and healthy life together!

{Debra & Rob} Engagement session at Calabogie Motorsports Park
Back when we first did the consult for Debra and Rob, Brian and I were thrilled to find out that they both were avid sportbike riders who wanted to incorporate their hobby into their wedding photography. In fact, I remember walking up to their house that night and excitedly pointing out the bike trailer to Brian! As you know, we love working out of the box, and these guys are a perfect fit.
Their first date included a ride to Calabogie Motorsports Park to watch a race, so it seemed only fitting to shoot their engagement session here. A huge thank you must go out to Jane and Glen, who gave us an amazing tour and access to the track to shoot this fantastic session!

How cute are they???

Rob has a wicked talent for pulling wheelies…

Thumbs up to a great session!!

I absolutely love the intensity of this shot…

A little knee draggin’ coming out of turn 19!

We were thrilled to find out that the new clubhouse has a state of the art classroom for teaching sessions, and 4 gorgeous high end suites, some that look out over the track! Can you say…honeymoon???

Rob, although a tried and true Chev man, was truely gracious to pose with Debra (and a Mustang) for these smokin’ hot photos…

What makes a better portrait backdrop than a Porsche and a Mustang??

Both Rob and Debra ride Suzuki motorcycles, and we thought they’d make a cool setting for some ring shots!

This is the gas cap of Debra’s gorgeous metallic chocolate brown GSXR750

Brian and I had such a wonderful afternoon with Debra and Rob…I got to drive on a racetrack (albeit in our Ford F150 and not on a bike), we got to hang out with this amazingly fun couple who are so much in love, AND we made some spectacular images! GREAT day at work!
