Wed By Hand

February 28, 2010

Yesterday we participated in Ottawa’s first indie wedding show, as one of only 3 official photographers who were hand selected to be part of this unique one of a kind wedding show. We were thrilled to have been able to participate. There were many great vendors present, notably papillonpress who creats invitations and other stationary on an old fashioned letterpress, For Cake’s Sake who creates amazing, one of a kind cakes, Becky Whelan who creats amazing one of a kind dresses, Little Cakes who makes amazing cupcakes, . And of course a big thanks to Wendy from Beyond Events  and Krista from Urbanite Jewelry for all of their hard work!

Big thanks to Jennie, Mary, Marie, Deborah and all of the other amazing brides who stopped to talk to us, looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your wedding plans!

Check out some photos from the show:

Stacy: Gorgeous Photos!

Paul Von Rieter: Beautiful work, your detail shots rock!

As promised, here are some more images from Amanda & Trevor’s gorgeous wedding at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa. I’ll start off with a few stunning images of when Amanda and her father, got to see each other for the first time on her wedding day. Murray, commonly know as little Mur since Trevor’s father shares the name, had refused to see her dress prior to the wedding. Amanda waited anxiously for her father to arrive. They got to share a little bit of time together before the ceremony:

There’s nothing like the first hand response of a bride who didn’t hire one of the best wedding photographers, and now regrets it…

Chez Rose Lingerie

February 25, 2010

Yesterday we partnered with Chez Rose Lingerie located a short drive from Ottawa in Carleton Place. Why pay city prices? Shop from Wendy’s online collection, or drop in and she can order anything you want from her extensive catalogs. Chez Rose Lingerie has ordered a set of catalogs for us to have in studio as well for your convenience.

Stop into Chez Rose at 230 Bridge St in Carleton Place and ask about our promotion! Only available in store!

During my short lunch break, I stumbled across Wedding Republic and thought it would be cool enough to share with brides looking for something different. When we were getting married we made the choice to have a registry since most of our family is out of town and have never seen our house, or know the style we both share. We didn’t want to have multiple registrys so we picked one large, Canada wide chain of stores for our wedding registry. If Wedding Republic had been around, we would have used them! You can add absolutely anything you want, and guests from both sides of your families can split on larger gifts.

Jennifer: Soo helpful! Thanks for posting.

Helen: Thanks for this! I was looking for a site like this...but its interesting that they change 2.5% for each transaction. I guess it's like Paypal.

Last night we had the pleasure, and honor to photograph the premiere of the musical, Girls Night: The Musical. The event was produced by Carrie Irvine of Blackbird Communications, Bronwyn Hammell of Cinnamon Toast New Media and Terry Tyo of Push Creative Marketing Group.

All of the ladies (and brave men) attending the premiere had the chance to talk to the ladies from Kenlan’s Closet, Little Cakes, Blend Creations, and Smashbox.

There were also some great give aways from Melody Iafelice of Smashbox, the ladies of Little Cakes, and of course us!

And of course, a big congratulations goes out to Mary May who won the grand prize, $500 shopping spree from the Rideau Center, a personal makeover for herself and 3 friends, along with dinner at Daly’s restaurant and limo service to the big event.

Check out some of the photos from the event:

We have been looking forward to Amanda & Trevor’s wedding at one of Ottawa’s premiere hotels, the Westin Hotel and Suites. After the cold and dull winter we’ve had so far, it was great to see the sun shining for their Valentine’s Day Wedding. It was also our first wedding since travelling to Nashville for the DWF conference this past January, so we had a lot of new ideas and tricks to make their images shine.

On behalf of all of us at The Westin, thank you for letting us share in your wedding plans and memories. You will be welcome to come back and share any and all anniversaries!!!! Marie Smith: Beautiful pictures, beautiful couple. Congratulations, look forward to seeing some more of your pictures later. Love Grandma Marie

I recently participated in a wedding show at the Beckwith Soccer Dome. It was a great venue and a lot of fun meeting area vendors and brides to be. I provided the brides with some information on dressing their wedding day! Whether you are planning your own wedding, are a part of a wedding party or the mother’s of the bride or groom, this information will come in handy when deciding what to wear for the big day!

Inspirational Save the Date

February 5, 2010

As a wedding photographer I like to keep up to date on wedding trends and ideas that other professionals are doing from all over the world. One great blog to follow is Junebug Weddings, which is exactly where I found this video, which is the most unique and creative save the date reminder I’ve ever seen.

Linda: Soo cool! I love it
